EDITED version of your WOrds & my IMAges = WO*IMA, #45

your WOrds about this IMAge #45:

Yaelian  / appelsiinipuun alla
But tomatoes don't grow in a date palm!

Rita
Red is the colour of love and Christmas is a time of love.

Arjaanneli
"Once upon a time there was very lonely palm tree.

One day the little tomato scrolled near the palm.
-Oh, you are so sweet, said palm tree.
-Will you marry me!
(Palm was very shy, and it blushed!)
Little tomato think that she has never seen anything so handsome and SO RED, and say:
- Oh, yes I will! Then they lived happily ever after!...and get many little tomatoes! -The End-

SusuPetal
I want to sail somewhere warm,

see a palm so tall,
eat tomatoes on the sand in a far,
far away land.

Tuula / Tuulan turinat
Tomatoes are fruits of the sun!

Auringonhedelmiä!

chrome3d / Cloudbusting
Love is all you need....oh,

and some food and sun would be nice too.

Kala / A matter of how you see it
You know the drill: you say tomato, I say .....

mythopolis / Life's Bone
She wasn't just a hot tomato,

she was a whole handful of hot tomatoes,
waiting and longing to be consumed!

Scriber / Scriber's Web
The tomato gang rebelled,

jumped on the magic leaf and flew away to a Mexican Beach.
There they opened up a cantina and lived happily ever after.

Sonia / GutsyWriter
Life has one common bond: LOVE.

Nature creates new life through sunshine,
and thrives giving birth.
The process of life continues through red hot love.

No free meals in Finland!

Yesterday's posting was about free this and that in Finland.
Here's what you said:
Cairo Typ0
"I love that countries like Finland provide so much for their citizens. It really puts the whole "oh no a 3 cent tax!" mentality in the States into perspective."
Mythopolis
"I love living in the states, but there are some things we just can't seem to figure out, and it's those same things that countries like Finland have worked out as mentioned in the article."
Scriber
"That is amazing! Is that for real?"

and then the only brave Finnish who said it, Arjaanneli

'There is no such thing like "free" meals or
anything else free'
What she means by that is,
we pay high taxes in Finland. From those taxes healthcare, schooling etc. is paid.
So. No free nothing. Zero. Nada.
And if somebody gets something 'free', other people are paying his/her costs in their monthly taxation!

I checked the VERO.FI  (in English) > calculator (in English)

Here's what I got. Remember. These figures are SIMPLE and ROUGH but you get an idea of Finland's taxation.
An example.
A single person who belongs to population register, lives in Helsinki.
a.
monthly salary  1.000 e = 1.494 $
in one year, 2009: 12.000 e = 17.940 $
tax per month 73 e = 109 $
Net income per month 927 e = 1.385 $
b.
monthly salary  3.000e = 4.485 $  (average is 2.880 e/4.304 $)
in one year, 2009: 36.000 e = 53.814 $
tax per month 672 e = 1.004 $
Net income per month 2.315 e = 3.460 $
c.
monthly salary  5.000 e = 7.470 $
in one year, 2009: 60.000 e = 89.640 $
tax per month 1.508 e = 2.253 $
Net income per month 3.500 e = 5.231 $

From that net income money you have to pay living, food, car, gasoline, transportation, electricity, water, clothes (4 seasons in Finland), holidays, mobile, internet etc.

23/11/2009

FREE! home, education, meals, transportation+monthly stipend!

Sounds too good to be true? It IS true!
Free home, free healthcare for the family...FREE education, free meals, free transportation...
+ you get 367 euros per adult + 8 euros per day if you attend the language course...

Oh, where's this paradise? IN F I N L A N D!

no more hanging out at bars...

why don't you study Egyptology, Arabic or Islamic Studies in Finland!

Here it's printed - FREE!

oooh, that's new - when I was at school we had a lot to do outside school!
Finns - is this true -
no more homework???

FREE - home, health care, education...

Finland is trying!
The article is online here > Egypt Today

I'd love to hear your interpretation of this article,
please leave a comment!

Would you like to move to Finland? Why?

your WOrds about this IMAge #44:

The wheels are in motion.
Pyörät pyörivät. Homma on hoidossa.

My boss told me today that I was going to be canned!!
If I could choose what kind of can I'd like to be,
I would want to be a can can girl!!!
Can ooh come out tonight?

At the end of the rainbow I found a pot of gold. It was empty, but the pot itself worth a fortune.

Do I need to wash???
Reminds me the cups used in old Turkish baths...

- Huhuu...anyone home? Well, I must try... "Magig Mirror, Who is the fairest one of all?"
- Are you talking to me?
- Wow! Yes I am. Did you hear what I just asked?
- Yes of course, but I happend to be an pickle can, and I wonder WHO has eaten all my pickles??
- Uuups...sorry, but Myrttinen`s garlicpickles are the best in the whole world...
- Yes they are, but these one was BLOGitse`s! Now you must be punished as an horrible way!I will disquise you as an old hag! Just enjoy your swallen eye bag s...PUFFF....

men and football plus a sex taboo...Hey, man how're you doing?

Egypt lost. Algeria won 1-0.
It's been a very silent day...
(no, I don't normally watch football...)

“I have never seen this before. So much silence and heads lowered. It is as if we lost a war and our national pride. I am shocked, but for me, the match showed us that we cannot avoid the real problems that exist here. Football can do little to change our circumstances,” he said.
How long the wounds of the loss will remain in the country’s minds is yet to be seen, but on Thursday, the quiet of the usually busy streets show that football can have detrimental effects to the people of Egypt." full article here

EDITED 24.11.2009 Read this article  Yes! Well done!

I was browsing Identity magazine today and I felt something odd.
Once I looked and touched it a bit closer, I noticed there was a sticker!

Of course I wanted know WHY?

Look how it censors the magazine's Dr. Anne's answer to the question:
Suspicious He Is Gay?

The word is not free in this country.

what am I blogging about? who is my audience? autch! I don't know but let's help Jay Baer!

You remember I posted about sharing? I'm sorry but I have to tell you what has happened after that.
I found myself on Jason Baer's blog yesterday. After that I've been a very busy woman!
Jason asked on his article few questions and now I'm even more confused!

Who is the audience for your blog? I don't know! Help me! Mamma mia!
I started as an expat (about my life in Egypt but I stay mainly at home, how interesting is that?)
Now my interest is more 'out there'. My life is very boring. Nothing happens in our house. I get the ideas and inspirations 'out there'. Like reading Jay's blog! :)
What is your blog about? I don't know. (This is getting really serious! heeelp!)
I'm not a 'I have only one interest' woman! I like photography, music, learn new things and have fun! I know I need more from my blogging but I don't know yet how and what. I don't have the skills like Jay but I can learn, can I?
What similar blogs exist? I don't know. eeeek! No more difficult questions!
Sometimes I think I'm the only one who has a problem who my audience is or what I blog about. I spend much more time 'out there' reading and commenting other blogs than on my own blog. No. Haven't seen similar blog as mine. eeeek! I need...a new life!?
I've been digging. Yes, here digg.com. Day by day I realize all the great possibilities 'out there' - in social media.
I don't have hours enough to explore and learn all the great tips and twists in one day!
Do you know who your audience is?
What is your blog about?

And now my friends. Let's help Jay! Go to flickr and tell which image is the best! I left my comment already!

17/11/2009

what's your favourite colour?

We need colour in our lives! And music!
What is the best band mixing these together?!
G  R
We saw them on stage in Byron Bay, Australia 31.12.1997 - what a night that was! I love Byron Bay!!! And this band!!!

sharing rocks! 'How people share content on the web'... sosiaalinen media kukoistaa!

On my yesterday's posting I shared information about some Finnish bloggers joined together and how they made pieces of art & let their creativity to bloom!

Some of you know already that I like to share. In the morning I noticed Mari Koo's (a Finnish social media blogger - sorry, only in Finnish) tweet about sharing. What did I find? An interesting posting by Journalistics 'How people share content on the web'.
The most popular methods are: Facebook 24%, email 11.1% and Twitter 10.8%.

I'm following the followers and I get interesting information. And I share.
But hey, I'm just one blogger but you never know how many bloggers I might link and get together!

Do you share your content or information? How and where?

Mikä on sinun suhteesi sosiaaliseen mediaan?

your WOrds about this image #43:

Yes I do, and also the little girl who could not keep her butt down in the shoolbench.
One or two of her teachers get "pimpels" from her behaving :)
I really dont miss those years!!!

101 ways to taunt an amnesiac.

Mostly, I remember the girls.

I don't want to remember!

I am with Susu on that one....*shudder*

Not an experience I want to have again. Lots of mean girls and crazy boys! Although I do remember climbing a wall at the school to look at a cute guy. Sigh.

Thank you all!
WO*IMA again on Saturday!

"Galleria Selätys was opened in November 2009.
Lepis invited co-bloggers to join into a project called How to Survive November
In the project, bloggers were to choose a photo of their own, which then was to circle through all the other bloggers who participated the project, each putting one’s own touch to the photo.
Thus the original photos were manipulated by many bloggers.

The results of this interactive project are now to be seen at Galleria Selätys.
Welcome!"

I love Miss Footloose and her writing and stories

It is quite difficult to describe my blog, cause most of my post`s are something "not so wise-stuff", and it is impossible to translate them in english.(I dont use written language moore pooch I think..) I start my blog in January 2009 and have nothing experience of writing before that. I have two sons, but they dont live at home anymore, so I have very much time of my own...My English is so rusty nowdays, but this is a great way to practise!

I love to read these three blog, because:

Hallatar has great poetry, and she have so sensitive way to add great picture and fine rhyme together.

Isopeikko writes so fine fairy tales of troll, fox, bear and little wolf, and also fantastic stories about life!
You can read those stories also in English.

Harmaasusi lives in Lapland, and his way to write is unique! He is also a great photographer!
Hope you enjoy as much as I do!
About me: I write very random stuff. I love photography and am now experimenting with different mediums like painting and encaustics.

Blog dating 11.11.2009 - welcome! Blogideitit 11.11.2009 - tervetuloa!

Let's start blog dating!
First of all I want to introduce you to my very first commentator, EBRUFIN, a Finnish blogger who lives in Turkey with her family. She writes in Finnish but she's fluent in English too!
Next. My loyal blogger commentators for about a year now. Men first (or a man sorry there's only one)
MYTHOPOLIS This man is one of his kind! He's funny, clever, artistic and a good writer. And he knows a lot 'how to'.
NICOLE She's an expat living now here in Egypt, Sharm el-Sheikh. She shoots birds. NO! With camera! And explores around her new location at least in English and German.
SCRIBER This woman is...multitalented, funny - even crazy (like me). Her "A Wine Opera"  is super hilarious and unique!
When I started blogging and I had few problems and
VILIJONKKA helped me. She lives in Beijing, China. Vilijonkka writes in Finnish but her blog is full of beautiful photographs - so you don't need to worry about the language. She's fluent in English and Swedish too. At the moment she has a raffle on her blog - leave a comment and you're in!
SUSUPETAL A multitalented Finnish blogger, writes great short stories in Finnish but she has a blog in English too.
YAELIAN, a Finnish blogger, writes in Finnish but can communicate with several other languages. She lives in Israel.
ELEGIA A Finnish blogger who just moved to London but is now on a trip to Tokyo. How cool is that? She designs blog templates with her a Finnish blogger friend
ITKUPILLI who lives in Los Angeles.
ARJAANNELI I mentioned already...
A new, fresh and interesting blog is
EVERETT BOGUE's 'simplifying life through a minimalist existance'. You can subscribe for free email...
GUTSY WRITER Yes, she's the one who asked how to share our audiences - she has a lot to say in her blog...

As I wrote in the introduction memes are not enough for me. But I do them!
After a long break I started again Hey Harriet's 'Shadow Shot Sunday' run by Tracy in Australia.
Memes push me to shoot. And I get material for other use too.
Some of you might know that I love colours?! I found a new meme called 'Colour Carnival' run by MENAGERIE (Martha)
Those two memes keeps me busy with my passion - photographing (learning more every day).
This is my main blog but I have three more...
my  meme, NaBloPoMo pictures etc.
travel pictures from Australia, Kuala Lumpur etc.
in Finnish we discuss about politics, religion, men-women, daily life topics etc.

NEXT STEP
Write a comment with your name (like BLOGitse).
Add a link YES! this time I need your link to your blog!
(like http://BLOGitse.blogspot.com)

Tell something about yourself, one or two lines and
add couple of your blogger friend's links as well (like I did) and
tell us something about them -
why should we visit yours or her/his blog?

What's going to happen next - I don't know. Let's see!
Let’s start!
Your turn!
EDIT This part of the blog dating will be closed tomorrow, Friday 13th yes it's Friday and 13th, at 10 am Cairo time
The final dating post is out later tomorrow...but I'll tweet you! See you!

INTRODUCTION to the blog dating, starting today 11.11.2009... yhteenveto blogideittailuun, joka alkaa tänään 11.11.2009...

Yesterday I was desperate. How and where to start explaining the idea of the 'blog dating'...
This morning * BANG! * I had a question waiting in a comment box:

"What I really want to learn is how to link with others to share our audience, not necessarily through a meme or a carnival. Any tips?"

Before that question I didn't know anything about blog carnivals
I'm NOT a social media guru, I don't know enough to have 10.000 interactive followers.
I've learned blogging basics from gurus.
I started blogging in August 2008. I have still a lot to learn! I learn by doing.
For me the biggest problem was and is: English is not my native language. My grammar sucks. But only way to communicate 'out there' is other than Finnish and for me it's English. I'm very, very curious person. NOT to sneak celebrities wardrobes or who's dating who.
I'm interested about people all over the globe. I want to learn about new cultures.
I want to get more blogger friends (to become friends needs more than one meme comment 'Nice shot!'). (Some bloggers do only memes and that's fine with me but not enough for me.)
Here are some gurus and blogs I follow.
From Chris Brogan's postings I got a flame for blogging globally.
From Problogger I find a lot of information.
From Blogdoctor I get help when my bloghead is aching.
There are a zillion more - just ask me!

From Daily Blog Tips I got the basic idea for 'blog dating'.
Daniel asked his audience a question 6.10.2009:
"Dear reader, who are you?"
Why a guru wants to know who I am? I posted my answer.
I checked this morning, he had 238 responses! And he answered to all those responses!
From those responses I found couple of new blogs.

To get new audience I have to be active. I have to go around and look for new interesting worlds.
Nobody's coming to knock my door: "Hi! Here you are - 10.000 interactive followers!"
No. I have to do the work myself.

I've always wanted help people if I can. I've introduced several bloggers to each others. Now I want to do that public. That's 'blog dating'!
I'm sorry but you have to wait couple of hours for the actual blog dating post, thank you!
* * *
In Finnish. Suomeksi.

Ennen tuota kysymystä en edes tiennyt mistä blogikarnevaaleista on kysymys!
En ole sosiaalisen median guru, en tiedä enkä osaa tarpeeksi saadakseni 10.000 interaktiivisia seuraajaa.
Olen oppinut bloggauksen perustiedot alan guruilta.
Aloitin bloggaamisen elokuussa 2008.

Chris Broganin postauksista sain liekin bloggaamiseen maailmanlaajuisesti.
Problogger jakaa monipuolista tietoa.
Blogdoctor auttaa kun blogipää on kipeä. Noita on lisää vaikka kuinka - Just ask me!

Daily Blog Tips blogilta sain peruskipinän 'blogideittailu'ideaan.
Daniel kysyi lukijoiltaan 6.10.2009: "Hyvä lukija, kuka sinä olet?" Miksi guru haluaa tietää kuka minä olen? No, lähetin vastaukseni joka tapauksessa.
Tarkistin tänä aamuna - hänellä oli 238 vastausta! Hän myös vastasi noihin kaikkiin kommentteihin!
Noiden vastauksien myötä löysin myös muutamia uusia blogeja.
Saadakseni uutta yleisöä ja vipinää sosiaaliseen vuorovaikutukseen minun on oltava itse aktiivinen. Minun täytyy kierrellä, löytää uusia, mielenkiintoisia maailmoja ja jättää kommentteja.
Kukaan ei tule oveen koputtamaan: "Hei! Täällä on sulle 10.000 vuorovaikutteista seuraajaa".

Varsinainen 'blog dating' postaus tulee parin tunnin kuluttua.
Siihen osallistuminen tapahtuu englanniksi. Miksi?

UPDATE 16.1.2010 blogging and meme etiquette...how I learned 'not to do' - by mistake(s)!

Couple of weeks ago I did a mistake (again, yes I make lots of mistakes!).
I posted a comment with a link (not my own) to one blogger. Silence. After couple of days I realized what happened. The blogger didn't like the idea me promoting outsider on her blog.
On the other hand a blogger can always reject comments she/he doesn't like.
It's important that you have an email address available in your profile or blog. That way you can be contaced. Or if you're linking or using other blogger's material on your own blog you need an email address. Be interactive.
If you link a blogger - tell her/him!
Today I explored internet and I found Melanie's bloggingbasics101 blog
This is the permalink to the page where I copied part of her posting. Yes, I told her!
Melanie writes:
"Don’t sell yourself in comments.

Bloggers have differing opinions about whether it’s OK to link to your own blog in the comments at another blog. Some think it’s a bit like poaching traffic or promoting yourself in an inappropriate place (after all, this is someone’s personal blog space). Others think it’s OK to leave a permalink if you’ve written something extremely relevant.
Just linking to yourself for the sake of having your link out there is a definite no-no. Most platforms ask you to enter your name, e-mail, and URL before you leave a comment and then, when your comment is posted, readers can click on your name and be taken to your blog. Putting your URL in the comment itself is redundant.
Use permalinks whenever you can. A permalink is the link to an individual blog post. These are important because if you ever need to link to an exact blog entry, you use the permalink as your link. It’s poor blog etiquette not to use the permalink."

UPDATE 16.1.2010
Today, only couple of months later

I think it’s a good idea to put your URL
in the comment IN BLOGGER BLOGS
WHY?
Because Blogger doesn’t have the same possibility as Word Press – comment luv - where you’re latest post comes automatically as a tail when you comment.
It’s EASY and QUICK just to click that link and you’re instantly reading the post you wanted.

I visit hundreds of blogs weekly. I’m fed up ending to the profile page
--- > looking for the specific posting.
It takes too much time and energy especially
if a blogger has several blogs.

BLOGGER Blogspot.com!!! PLEASE modernize your options to the same level as WP or soon you’ll lose more and more bloggers to WP (a lot of bloggers has moved to WP lately and I do understand why… Me? Not yet…)

but DO NOT promote your business blog by URL - that's a no-no!
Here's a 'how-to' example of my entry to

1. my blog address

2. I POST my entry on my blog

3.  this is how my post's PERMALINK looks

4. now we're on Hey Harriet's Mr. Linky's page

 5. I add my SCREEN NAME NOT blog's name!!!
and the permalink - NOT my blog's address.

6. I start visiting other blogger's blogs by clicking links on Mister Linky's page.
NOT from my own blog's comments!

7. Here I am, straight from Mr. Linky's page reading the correct posting on
Sweet Repose's blog!
Melanie writes:
"If you don’t use the permalink, you’ll just be linking to your main blog page. The problem with that is that, as you post new blog entries, the newest entry appears at the top of your main blog page and the other entries are pushed down on the page. The entry your readers are looking for may be down at the bottom of the page or already in the archives; your reader has no idea where to find the entry! If they click over to your site expecting to see a specific post related to a carnival and they see a different post, they may not take the time to find the “real” post they’re looking for."

Sometimes I forget to change my permalink when commenting 'out there'. But I'll try to get better! I promise!

Have you made mistakes?
Do you have an email address on your blog's home page or in your profile?

ps. here's the permalink to Melanie's blog if you just started blogging...

Ymmärtääkö kaikki mistä tässä on kysymys vai pitäisikö postata suomenkielinen versio?
